DPP Is Coming. EmpCo Is Here. What Is Missing?

The Digital Product Passport (DPP) tells us what product information must be available.

The Empowering Consumers Directive (EmpCo) sets the rules for what companies can claim about their products.

Both matter.

Both rely on facts and evidence.

But having the facts doesn’t tell you what to do next.

The producer’s question

Which circular option makes sense for our product?

  • Repair?

  • Refurbishment?

  • Remanufacturing?

  • Take-back?

Not every option works for every product. The answer depends on:

  1. Technical feasibility

  2. Environmental impact

  3. Commercial viability

The end user’s question

For the end user, the question is different:

What should I do with the product in my hands?

Keep it? Return it? Repair it?

The missing layer: decision intelligence

Turning product facts into the right next action.

  • For producers: this is what MIDORI360 is built for.

  • For end users: I think that layer is still waiting to be built.

We are getting better at knowing more about our products.

Now we need to get better at deciding what to do with them next.

💬 Which challenge do you see in your work today: the producer’s or the end user’s?
